About Our History
We have been making our recipes for years, starting in Indiana and then moving to Chicago. My wife, Ashley and I probably don’'t have typical backgrounds compared to other brands. We play in bands, bartend, love to indulge in great food and drinks and of course…, make jerky. We didn’'t start our company to see how quickly and cheaply we could make a product that would sit on shelves beside other mass produced snack foods. We wanted to buy the jerky that we made in our kitchen: And Gunslinger Jerky was created.
Gunslinger has been on the road with my bands ever since we first hopped in that trusty old van. With Ashley’'s bartending background, she was able to make it well known in the bar scene. The combination of the two quickly made Gunslinger a favorite at some of Chicago'’s oldest and most respected rock 'n roll bars. It’s not just for the rockers though, …we'’ve gotten accolades from coinsurers and 5 star restaurants. …Not bad for some ol'’ Indiana recipes, huh!
We don’'t want people to think of our product as typical gas station jerky. It'’s hand cut, heat cured, spiced up awesomeness. Try it, and you’ll see what I mean. We use some salt in our recipes, because that'’s part of the curing process. Unlike what you might be used to in a jerky, we use really good spices and marinades to get our flavor. Garlic, onion, chilies, molasses, brown sugar… and lots of other goodies.
Well, I think I’'ve said enough…. Get some Gunslinger Jerky and go have an adventure. Go to the bar, go camping, or hell, just sit on your porch and enjoy!
